Johnny Ray's Smokehouse: Reviews & Ratings
Had the chopped plate and brisket. Wow. So yummy you don’t need the BBQ sauce. Very tasty. I am going back soon.
Wow! That is all I can say. The brisket special (Saturday after 5 Pm) is $23 but plenty to feed me and my husband. Too much for either of us alone. We asked and thought the baked beans were similar to pit beans or not just out of a can. I am told they are made there. Disappointed here as they taste like canned beans. Could use some spicing up (meat added, onion, garlic, etc.) The brisket literally melts in your mouth and is a generous portion. The hush puppies were quite delicious. Light and airy and sooo good. The fries were a little crispy, which I loved. I love a lil crunch on my fries. The Moscato ($6) and bottled Copper amber ($6) is a favorite of my husband's. Total bill $34.xx with tax. Waitress was very attentive and checking on us a few times and made sure our order was correct. The wait (saturday night around 6 pm) was only about 15 min. Grab a sweater though as it was a little cool in there. A must stop if you are within an hours drive. You will not be disappointed!
Tonight was our first time trying Johnny Rays and it did not disappoint! We had to wait about 20 mins for a table but it was dinner time on a Friday night. The employees were friendly, the restaurant was clean and there were plenty of seats to wait on a table. We started with fried pickles and they were really good. They came out hot and crispy! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. The chicken tips were tender and flavorful. The portions were large and priced reasonably! We will definitely be back!!
We tried Johnny Rays based on a recommendation from my Uncle. It was about an hour drive from the house and it was worth the drive. We started with the hush puppy appetizer with their special tartar sauce. It was the perfect start to the meal. We also bartered a brisket sandwich with white slaw on the side and home made chips as well as the pulled pork sandwich with red slaw on the side and French fries. Both barbecue sandwiches were great. They had great flavor. In addition to the great food, the service was great and the place had a great atmosphere,
Delicious! Food was hot and fresh and came to the table quickly. I got the hot honey wings and my fiance got the chopped brisket plate. We were both very happy with our choices. The wings were a 10/10. Tender and the sauce was delicious.
First time here, recommended by a friend. It was 50 cent wing night. Although there was about an hour wait, we were willing to eat at the bar by the kitchen and got in right away. It was nice to be away from the busy, almost like we had our own little spot back there. I highly recommend trying that if there are just 2 of you. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. I had wings and hubby had a burger. The wings are smoked, which was a new experience for me. His burger was huge and actually cooked the way he ordered it. Most places ask and still give it to you well-done, they get it right here! Go! Try it!! You won't regret it.
Beautiful and tipical restaurant with very good food, nice service, good vibe, soft music Every rooms is very nice with oroginal decoration
I want to share the experience we had here. To start off with the family atmosphere is great. From the time we walked in we were great by a young man who was very pleasant. We then met a young g lady who was very pleasant and seated us after about 15 minute wait, that wasn’t bad at all. The waitress came and got our drink orders and food orders and was very pleasant to work with. Now let me start by saying the food looked amazing I mean you could put it on the front of all magazine presentation A+. Now the taste of the coleslaw a D at its best. The burger by itself A+, the Fries I think were doubled fried correct me if I’m wrong but the grease taste was not so good. The macaroni was ok taste like stouffer’s , the bake beans had added meat but taste good. The fried okra and pickles were good too. The shrimp tacos tasted like straight up mayo on top of mayo. But let me say this is our first time here and don’t know anything about what the food was like or what came on it. With that I think this place has a lot of potential and I will go back. Not everybody’s taste buds are the same. But we enjoyed ourselves there.
